Planting Instructions for Coneflower – Echinacea Purpurea Seeds
Echinacea Purpurea Coneflower seeds can be started indoors or can be planted outdoors in the fall. Indoor seeds germinate best if they are stratified first. To stratify seeds, keep seeds moist and refrigerate for 7-10 days. After seeds have been stratified, place seeds in 4 1/2″ pots and cover lightly. Will germinate at room temperature. After transplanting Echinacea Purpurea Coneflower plants outdoors, space plants 8″ to 12″ apart. To plant seeds outdoors, it is best to sow in the fall or early spring in a cold frame. New Echinacea Purpurea Coneflower plants and seedlings will need to be watered until they are established. Once the plants are growing well, they will thrive on the available moisture from rain except in extremely dry areas. Echinacea Purpurea Coneflower can be somewhat fussy about too much moisture, they like fairly dry soil. Believed by many people to stimulate the immune system.
