For Spring planting, you can plant Endive seeds 2-4 weeks before the last frost, and for Fall crops plant 2-3 months before expected first frost. For an early Endive crop in spring start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, and transplant outdoors 2 weeks before last frost. To direct sow Heirloom Endive seeds outdoors, sprinkle seeds evenly and cover with ¼” of soil, in wide rows 18″ apart. Germination should occur in 5-15 days in soil 45-75°F. Thin to 8-12″ apart. Mulch will help retain moisture and suppress weeds for optimum growth. Can start harvesting outer leaves when big enough to use. When Heirloom Endive plant is full grown, cut off at the base to harvest.
